The RMBG-1.4 AI model (~45 MB) is downloaded once to your browser cache. Every visit after that is instant — the model loads from cache in under a second.
Is this really free with no limits?
Yes — completely free with no usage limits. The AI runs on your own device, so there are no server costs for us and no charges for you.
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
Never. The entire AI model runs inside your browser using WebAssembly and WebGPU. Your images never leave your device.
How is this different from colour-based removal?
Colour-based tools match pixels by colour — they fail on complex backgrounds or subjects with similar colour to the BG. RMBG-1.4 is a neural network trained on millions of images that understands what objects ARE, not just what colour they are.
